Hall is suitable for parties, wedding receptions, dinners, dancing, theatre, film, talks etc., fully licensed and well equipped. See our website for full information, charging detail and gallery of photos. Hall is also licensed by Devon CC as a wedding venue. Provides a cost-effective setting for a DIY-style event.

The Hall possesses a premises license for theatre, film, dancing, music and sale of alcohol (organized by the hirer) via a premises supervisor who issues Licenses at a nominal cost. The bar enables drinks to be dispensed to the Main Hall or the Community Room. The Kitchen likewise can be used to serve hot and cold food directly to the Community Room or Main Hall.

The Main Hall is hired weekdays during school hours to Lympstone [VC] School.

The complex is used by the many and varied Village Organizations for social, educational, artistic, and entertainment purposes.

ACCESS STATEMENT

The Village Hall is the hub of village activities. It consists of a single storey complex containing a Main Hall, a Community Room, and a Meeting Room, in addition to a licensed Bar, Kitchen and Shower/Changing Rooms.

There is a Car Park for 48 vehicles and the occasional minibus. It is illuminated at night. There is dedicated parking for people with mobility difficulties.
The two main entrances from the car park are on the south side of the building. The one to the west leads to the Main Hall/Stage area, whilst the one to the east leads to a carpeted Community Room. The main entrance (west) has steps on one side and a purpose built mobility ramp with safety rails on the other. Please see the attached floor plan for the relative location of rooms, a list of facilities and safety matters.

The Main Hall (area 8.0 by 14.0 metres) is carpeted at the entrance whilst the main area consists of a polished wood floor. At the end of the Main Hall is the Stage (1.0 metre high, area 4.0 by 8.0 metres) and Proscenium arch. The Stage is reached by balustraded side stairs. This hall is suitable for dancing (including ceilidhs), large scale dining functions including wedding receptions, theatrical performances, café theatre, film showing and general social gatherings and lectures. The hall is equipped with theatre lighting, state of the art sound equipment, a full stage electric film screen, and a piano. Voluntary help is available to prospective hirers for setting up the sound and lighting systems. The standing capacity of the Hall is 200, the seating capacity for theatre and films 130, and the seating capacity at tables is 80~100 (depending on the shape of tables selected and whether the portable Thrust Stage is used in the auditorium). The hall possesses a premises license for theatre, film, dancing, music and sale of alcohol (organized by the hirer) via a premises supervisor.

The Community Room (area 5.6 by 11.0 metres) is fully carpeted. Although of smaller area than the Main Hall, it has a lower ceiling with pleasant pendant lights and is more suited to moderate sized functions, such as afternoon catering, group or Society meetings for talks, and AGMs. It is equipped with a piano and a portable film screen and a dozen card tables. The standing capacity of the Room is 120, the seating capacity for films 80, and the seating capacity at tables is 60~80 (depending on the layout).

The Hall is equipped with 150 comfortable waterfall front royal blue chairs and 50 plastic chairs (suitable for outside use), 35 varnished trestle tables and 12 plastic topped steel framed tables (both standard 10 person size) plus 8 heavy 12 person tables. This furniture can be deployed from store where it is needed.

Between these two large rooms (that is the Main Hall and the Community Room) are located successively, a Storeroom (for School equipment), a fully equipped Kitchen (area 5.5 by 3.5 metres), and a Bar (area 4.0 by 3.7 metres). The Kitchen has recently been refurbished and containers a refrigerator, a commercial grade microwave, a water boiler capable of dispensing 150 cups of liquid refreshment per hour, a standard gas cooker and a hot water override enabling instant access to hot water. Next door to the Kitchen is the Bar. The Bar enables drinks to be dispensed to the Main Hall or the Community Room and contains a refrigerator and drinks cold cabinet. The Kitchen likewise can be used to serve hot and cold food directly to the Community Room (via a large servery hatch from the Bar) or Main Hall. The Kitchen/Bar Complex is equipped with crockery and cutlery to serve 100 covers and glasses (wine glasses, highball and sleevers) to serve 150. Hirers have free access to this equipment. There is no extra cost for the use of electricity for catering.

Beyond the Community Room and across a corridor lie a Storeroom used by the Preschool and W. I., a female toilet suite (with one of the three cubicles fitted with mobility grab rails), a toilet for the disabled (fully equipped for wheel chair access and with raisable grab rails), a baby changing facility, a male toilet suite (the single cubicle being fitted with mobility grab rails). The sinks are fitted with press button taps, except in the disabled toilet where wrist action taps are installed. For safety, particularly with young children, temperature limiters are fitted to hot water supplies. The left hand end of the corridor exits to the Main Hall, whilst the right hand end exits to the outside with an emergency crash door.

Beyond the Stage, to the left, and level with it, there is a rear entrance corridor and a caretaker/theatrical costumes room and a Meeting Room (area 4.7 by 8.8 metres) with a small kitchenette (equipped to supply light refreshments to ~20). The Meeting Room is not licensed and so can be used by the Parish Council, the W. E. A. and the School for meetings and group tuition, and formal committee meetings of the various groups and organizations. The standing capacity of the Room is 40 and the seating capacity at tables is 20~30 (depending on the layout).

The Meeting Room leads through a Wash Room/Toilet (with mobility rails) to Shower/Changing Rooms (currently used by Lympstone Football Club, sufficient for home and away sides and referees etc).

The emergency door on the east side of the building also allows wheel chair users access on the level directly to the corridor containing the disabled toilet and hence the Main Hall. The Main Hall is thus served with two access points for people with mobility difficulties.
