Local Giving Fund
The Local Giving Fund was a small grant (up to £300) aimed at providing items of play equipment to organisations based in rural Devon.
Purpose of fund and criteria
Devon Communities Together (DCT) launched a fund of £2,200 called the Local Giving Fund. This grant was managed and distributed by DCT.
The aim of the grant scheme was to provide a very simple way for rural community groups to access small amounts of funding for play equipment to support children and/or young people.
Eligibility Criteria
The funding was open to any rural community group that meets regularly and provides social opportunities for children or young people in Devon. The following types of groups were eligible to apply (list is not exhaustive):
- Youth Clubs
- Brownies/Guides
- Beavers/Cubs/Scouts
Please note that only not-for-profit groups and organisations were eligible.
What could be funded?
The applicant had to submit a clear proposal of why the fund was needed and what play equipment it would buy. We prioritised projects that provide regular social opportunities for children and/or young people.
Funds could be used for a wide range of equipment. Some examples of things we support are:
- Indoor play equipment
- Toys
- Outdoor play equipment
- Electronic devices
Some things that we would not support include:
- Running costs of the club
- Venue hire
- One-off activity
It should also be noted that DCT will not be liable for any damage or harm caused because of expenditure of the grant fund.
