This course gives in- sight into understanding the needs and expectations of working with Volunteers with special needs or disabilities.

You may need to attend this course if you require further knowledge in supporting volunteers with special needs or a disability. Alternatively this course is ideal for you if you are thinking of working alongside volunteers with special needs or you may be managing or supervising a group or individual while they are volunteering.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

(Learning Outcomes)

The course aims is to gain an understanding of the requirements of working with disabled and SEN Volunteers.

The outcome of this course :

1.1 Clarify what a special need volunteer is and to be able to fully recognise the needs of the volunteer

1.2 Gain an understanding and relate the Nolan Principles to Special Individual needs.

1.3 Volunteers matters : information on the needs of individuals who volunteer

1.4 Definition of special needs what does this mean ?

1.5 How do we make assessments how to use assessment charts.

1.6 How to gage the needs of the volunteers and make sure you meet all their support requirements.

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR

Teresa Murphy

Teresa trained in Nursery Care (NNEB) in 1972 at Torquay Technical college . Teresa went on to have four children three boys and a girl who are now fully grown adults, she also has two energetic grandchildren. After having her children she worked with young children in youth work training as youth an community leader.

Later Teresa furthered education and trained in Counselling and psychotherapy and family therapy and parenting skills.
She also gained a degree in Health and Social care . Her recent qualifications includes Adult Education and Mental Health Training and Psychology. At the present time Teresa is working on gaining her Masters in Psychology and Counselling with the OU. Her hobbies are traveling and discovering new adventures and reading and keeping healthy and happy.
