Taking control

Step 8

STEP 8 - Taking control

When an emergency happens and you begin to activate your plans, command, control, coordination and communications are essential for an effective response.

There are some key things you can do to help this process run smoothly, as listed in our Community Emergency Plan Guidance. For example, in an incident, you will need to maintain regular contact with the Emergency Services, so that what you do supports and complements their actions.

You can find Emergency Action Checklist, logging sheets and a Situation Report template in the Community Emergency Plan Template, so that you’re prepared.
