Free travel training for people with disabilities

Travelling With Confidence provides group training for people with any form of disability to build long-term confidence using public transport.

The training consists of:

  • An introductory session to explore participants’ travel goals; learn to communicate with confidence; build journey planning skills; plan for the unexpected; and practice techniques to overcome anxiety.

  • Guided travel sessions, by bus and train, to build confidence and become familiar with ticketing, train, bus and station access.

  • A reflection and evaluation session to consolidate learning, identify further training needs and plan next steps.

The training has been co-designed with Living Options’ Devon’s Devon Disability Voice engagement group. and builds on DCT’s Connecting You project, tackling loneliness with transport.
