Join us for a workshop and networking opportunity at The Station, Ottery St Mary
- Do you want to apply for the Royal Countyside Fund or other grant givers that ask for a video submission?
- Videos can be a fantastic way to tell your story and share your messages
- Having some great video content could make a real difference to your organisation.
You'll leave this session feeling confident and inspired to have a go at editing your own video.
What will the training include?
During this session, guest speaker Chris Hunt-Watts will teach you how to harness the power of your mobile phone to create simple but impactful videos through the free app, InShot.
You will be given a demonstration of the app in action and then assisted in getting hands on to edit your video.
What will I need to bring to the session?
- A smartphone will be required to take part in the session. Most smarphones will be able to run Inshot but we are unable to guarantee this
- Where possible, please download the app before attending
- As Inshot is a phone app, some users may find the small screen a barrier. In these cases, we would be happy to direct you to software available on a larger device, although the use of this software will not be covered in the session
To get the most out of the session, we recommend:
- Using your phone to take some videos, even if this is just to have something test the app with
- Shooting videos in landscape (with the phone on its side)
- Writing out points that you want in your video before you start filming.
This ensures the video communicates the intended message as it is easy to get distracted from this when filming.
Some example points might be
- Showcase the location of the project
- Include a beneficiary of the project talking about their experience
- Include a figures such as "25 people said they feel more connected to nature as part of the project"
*Please note that this training is in no way endorsed by InShot.
The session will then open up for a chance to ask questions, network and share with the group.
If you would like a certain question or theme to be raised, please state this when signing up via Eventbrite when prompted.
Depending on the amount of requests, we will choose a selection to focus on.
We are running these sessions to provide space for the sector to share its collective expertise, to network and for participants to return to their organisation with something helpful.
If you would like to delve further into a particular area, please visit our Eventbrite page.
A minimum of 5 attendees are required in order for this training to go ahead.
