Please note that a minimum of 6 attendees are required in order for this training to go ahead.

  • Have you heard of ‘asset based community development’ but don’t know what it means?
  • Do you want to use ABCD in your work but don’t know where to start?
  • Do you want to learn methods of how to put it into practice, and how to plan projects using ABCD approaches?
What will the training include?

Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) focuses on the strengths of communities and how they can be mobilised to achieve change. It recognises that there are many talented, energetic people in communities, as well as existing assets that could be repurposed or looked at in a different way to help overcome particular challenges.

This workshop, delivered by in house experts at Devon Communities Together, dives deeply into what’s involved in the ABCD methodology, approaches and important aspects to consider, how to plan a project in an ABCD way, and how to practically apply it when working alongside communities. This is an interactive session with space for questions, discussion and exploration.

Participants will leave this workshop knowing what ABCD is, methods and approaches when working in an asset-based way, how to plan a project with ABCD methods, and putting it into practice. You will be provided with tools, information and resources to use during and after the 2-day training session.
