Devon’s Nature is amazing. We can’t live without it. Nature gives us food, cleans our water and brings us joy, but nature is in crisis. We need to act now!
The draft Devon Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) sets out a bold, collaborative plan to help nature thrive across the county. From 1st October to 5th November 2025, we’re inviting everyone to respond to the public consultation at www.naturerecoverydevon.org.uk and help shape the future of nature recovery in Devon.
Whether you’re a farmer, landowner, business, developer, agent, wildlife enthusiast, or resident — young or old — your voice matters. This is your chance to influence how we protect and restore the landscapes, habitats, and species that make Devon special.
What is the LNRS?
The Devon Local Nature Recovery Strategy is a new statutory plan includes:
- A description of Devon’s wildlife
- Opportunities and pressures for recovering or enhancing wildlife
- The priorities for recovering or enhancing Devon’s nature (bearing in mind the contribution this can also make to other environmental benefits)
- Actions required to achieve the priorities
It is a joint strategy for Devon, Plymouth and Torbay, developed by Devon County Council in collaboration with a wide range of partners. It’s designed to help us reverse declines in nature by identifying what we most need to do and where we most need to do it. It is voluntary, provides a single vision for nature recovery across Devon, will help guide funding, and support collaborative decision-making across Devon — from rural landscapes to urban green spaces.
Who Should Respond?
Everyone. Whether you:
- Manage land or advise others
- Build homes or run a business
- Work in education, health, or community services
- Care about wildlife, climate, or local heritage
Your perspective will help ensure the strategy reflects the needs and values of Devon’s diverse communities.
How to Take Part: Visit https://partners.devon.gov.uk/lnrs/ between 1st October and the 5th November 2025 to explore the draft strategy, find out about consultation events, and share your views.
Together, we can turn the tide for nature — and build a greener, fairer future for Devon.
