Devon Communities Together have been working with Devon County Council and Transport For Your Community to seek out new income generation activities which could help build local resilience amongst Community Transport groups in the face of increasing pressure on grant funding.
We planned and delivered the ‘Joining the Gold Rush’ session to around 20 members of Community Transport groups. This led to the establishment of a steering group and a follow on think tank session ‘Steering a course for sustainability’ which led to wider community issues being highlighted as areas that require development, including charity shops, trading in mobility aids and partnership approaches.
The group continues to receive input and support from Devon Communities Together at quarterly meetings and on a one to one basis as required, for example:
- TRIP (Honiton) received bespoke advice on the proposed expansion of their services.
- Tavistock Area Support Services around the potential to take over the running of a local hub for services affected by budget cuts.
