course description

Organisations and projects are increasingly expected to evidence the difference their work delivers for their intended beneficiaries. Theory of Change is a methodology for mapping how activities undertaken will lead to positive outcomes and contribute towards the desired impact. It helps at the planning stage to focus the activities on delivering the desired impact and can ensure resources are targeted appropriately. From the outset, it also provides a basis for developing an impact measurement framework to evidence your achievements.

The morning of this course will be theoretical. The theory of change model will be introduced and the different forms it can take and the steps required creating one. The difference between outputs, outcomes and impact will be explored and the linkages and assumptions made in delivering your activities. A brief overview of how a theory of change can be used as the basis of an impact measurement framework will be discussed.

The afternoon will be a practical session, beginning to create a theory of change for your organisation or project.

*PLEASE NOTE. If you are part of a mission community involved in the Growing the Rural Church Project, please book the DCT members rate and ensure that you include the name of your parish and mission community when booking.
